Where is your customer data stored? Ask your provider
Ask your provider one question: exactly where is my customer data held? Ask for it in writing.
Why the question matters now
Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law is in force, and responsibility under it sits with the data controller — you, not the tool you use. Choosing a provider that stores data abroad does not move that responsibility onto them; it makes compliance your problem alone.
What to ask
- Which country are the servers actually in? Not where the company is registered.
- Who can access the data, and is that access logged?
- What happens when the subscription ends, and after how many days is it deleted?
- Can I export my conversations and contacts before leaving?
Get it in writing
If you cannot get written answers to those, that is an answer in itself. A provider holding your data inside the Kingdom can say so in one line.
